Emergency services rescued a hiker Sunday afternoon who was seriously injured at the Rocky Narrows Preserve in Sherborn, officials say.

At 4:19 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the reserve on Forest Street for a report of an injured hiker. according to a statement from the Sherborn Fire and Rescue Department.

The statement said the hiker was found about a mile into the forest with “serious injuries.”

Medical interventions began within 18 minutes of being called to the scene.

The statement said the Sherborn Fire Department drove the UTV about three-quarters of the way to the patient, and crews had to transport the hiker from the scene about a quarter of a mile back to the UTV over “difficult terrain.”

The department said a UMass Memorial LifeFlight medical helicopter landed at Pine Hill School to transport the patient to a trauma center.

Seventeen members of the Sherborn Fire and Rescue Department responded, including the drone unit and Sherborn Police.

Mutual Aid from Dover, Framingham, Holliston, Millis, Ashland and Natick also assisted in the rescue.

“The response to today’s incident in Sherborn demonstrates why departments in our region regularly train together,” he said The Holliston Fire Department said in a statement. “Multiple agency personnel worked collaboratively to seamlessly achieve incident objectives.”
