Look for an injured manatee that was last seen near Kitty Hawk Bay

The OBX Marine Mammal Stranding Network is searching for an injured manatee with propeller wounds near its tail.

According to a recent social media post by the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island, the manatee was last spotted on Tuesday near Kitty Hawk Bay.

Conservation leaders are urging the public to report any sightings of this manatee or other stranded marine mammals to the Marine Mammal Stranding Hotline at 252-564-2733.

The network continues to focus on helping stranded, entangled or injured marine mammals from the Virginia-North Carolina state line to Ocracoke, extending over 120 miles of coastline.

Earlier this month, a Florida manatee died after damaging a boat’s propeller in Bogue Sound.
