On Thursday, October 24, an NCSO employee at West Nassau High School was informed that a student had been sending threatening messages throughout the day, claiming that he had brought a knife to school with him.

According to reports, the student was escorted to the office, where his belongings were searched and a fixed-blade knife was found. The student was arrested on suspicion of a crime involving making written or electronic threats to kill.

“We do not tolerate any threats or weapons brought onto our school campuses. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority,” said NCSO Sheriff Bill Leeper. “We quickly worked with the school to identify the threat, search the student and make an arrest. We will continue to remain vigilant and take swift action when threats arise.”
