Shoplifting suspect leads Sterling Heights police on chase before being apprehended – Macomb Daily

A woman who allegedly stole a large amount of merchandise from the Sterling Heights Kohl’s store on Schoenherr Road on Tuesday was arrested after a short chase that ended in Fraser.

According to Sterling Heights Police Capt. Mario Bastianelli, officers were dispatched to the store around 1:45 p.m. Oct. 29 in response to a report of ongoing retail fraud. The officers waited for the suspect to leave the store and get into a vehicle parked in the parking lot.

When the officer tried to stop the suspect as she was getting into her car, she allegedly hit the gas pedal and fled.

“She actually dragged the officer with her vehicle,” Bastianelli said.
