A teenager from the parish of St. Tammany accused of sending threatening text messages

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WGNO) — a 14-year-old home school student at the parish of St. Tammany was arrested Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, after allegedly sending threatening text messages to students at a private school in the Covington area.

According to the St. Parish Sheriff’s Office Tammany deputies were dispatched to a school in the Covington area on Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, after a student said they were receiving messages from an unknown phone number containing threats of violence and containing an image of a person. he is holding a firearm.

A second student reported receiving similar threats from the same number on Wednesday morning.

That evening, detectives from the STTPSO Personnel Crimes Unit arrested a 14-year-old girl in connection with the case. According to reports, the girl admitted that she sent the messages to intimidate the victims and did not plan to carry out the threats.

It was found that a photo of a person with a firearm was widely published on the Internet and that the teenager did not have access to any weapons.

She was then given a summons for terrorizing and handed over to her parent under a custody agreement to appear in court.
