A driver is facing DUI charges after killing a passenger in a crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) – Nevada State Police have identified the victim and suspect in a wrong-way crash near Boulder Highway.

NSP responded to the incident on October 25 just before 3 a.m. where two vehicles collided head-on.

According to police, a black 2023 Toyota Corolla was traveling south in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Scott.

Officers reported that a silver 2012 Cadillac CTS was traveling northbound in the left lane when they saw a Toyota driving towards them. They tried to escape but ended up hitting each other.

According to state police, 18-year-old Marilyn Amilia Rodriguez was a passenger in the Toyota who later died at the hospital from her injuries.

Scott was booked into the Clark County Detention Center but is currently being cared for at a local hospital.

NSP reports Scott faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and impaired driving on a divided highway.

Scott is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.

Highway patrol officers have investigated 61 fatal crashes that occurred in 2024 so far.
