Idaho’s Forensic Nurses Initiative Reaches Milestone

Idaho’s Forensic Nurses Initiative Reaches Milestone

Idaho State Police announced this week that 250 sexual assault nurse examiners have been trained as part of the initiative.

A statewide initiative launched in 2017 aims to train 250 nurses to conduct forensic examinations, which will improve access to care for survivors of sexual violence.

Thanks to the dedication of nurses who have completed the SANE training program, medical and forensic assistance is now available to more survivors across Idaho, the press release stated.

“Reaching this milestone means more survivors across Idaho, especially in rural areas, will be able to get the care they need faster and closer to home,” said Deb Wetherelt, SANE program director.
