The best LMG sets in Black Ops 6

The best LMG sets in Black Ops 6

LMGs play an important role in the meta Black Ops 6and using the best LMG kits will allow you to easily dominate mid- and long-range shootouts.

Most LMGs in Modern Warfare 3 were weak and left much to be desired, but this is not the case in BO6. This year Call of Duty the game has some fantastic machine guns that you can fight even with best assault rifles available.

However, not all are equally strong, and some stand out more than others. Here are our recommendations for the best LMG sets in Black Ops 6, as well as ranking them from best to worst.

The best LMG sets in BO6

1.XMG

The best XMG set in Black Ops 6.
  • Optical: Kepler’s microflex
  • Mouth: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Ranger front grip
  • Rear handle: Ergonomic grip
  • Fire Mods: 7.62 NATO FMJ

The XMG is the best LMG overall because it deals a lot of damage, has a long damage range, and comes with an impressive 100-round magazine by default. It is an extremely versatile weapon that outperforms many assault rifles, including some of the most powerful in the game. Even if you’re not necessarily an LMG user, it’s worth giving it a try.

The big advantage the XMG has over the other two machine guns is that its recoil is much more forgiving, which is especially true if you’re using the loadout we recommend. The compensator on this version makes it laser accurate even at extreme distances, perfect for dominating larger maps like Red Card, Scud and Vorkuta.

2. PU21

The best PU-21 set in Black Ops 6.
  • Optical: Kepler’s microflex
  • Mouth: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Vertical front grip
  • Rear handle: Ergonomic grip
  • Fire Mods: Recoil springs

With a time to kill of just 240ms, the PU21’s main advantage is its incredible damage output. It is not only the fastest-lethal LMG in Black Ops 6, but also the fourth-fastest-lethal weapon in the entire game. This isn’t bad at all considering it has a 75-round magazine and noticeably better handling than the other two options, which is helpful if you want to play more aggressively.

The main problem with the PU21 is that its high recoil limits its effective range. The first few shots it fires have a large vertical kick, which is not a recipe for a highly accurate weapon. It still performs well at close and medium ranges, but loses out to assault rifles due to sporadic recoil. We recommend equipping a compensator to partially alleviate this problem and increase the accuracy of the PU21.

3.GPMG-7

The best GPMG-7 build in Black Ops 6.
  • Optical: Kepler’s microflex
  • Mouth: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Ranger front grip
  • Rear handle: Quick pull handle
  • Warehouse: Sustainable stocks

Unfortunately, the GPMG-7 is not a good weapon and should be avoided if possible. From the small magazine to the heavy recoil and slow TTK, there’s no real reason to choose this LMG over the competition. It even has the worst handling of the three, so you can’t run and shoot it to take advantage of its high fire rate.

If you insist on using the GPMG-7, equipping both a compensator and a Quickdraw grip is a must to improve recoil and handling. With both of these additions, it becomes a decent enough weapon that can handle itself. However, neither version will make the GPMG-7 better than the XMG or even the PU21, so LMG enthusiasts will be better off using one of these instead.

All Black Ops 6 LMGS rankings

At launch, there are only three LMGs currently available in Black Ops 6, and each one plays a different role and offers unique strengths and weaknesses.

Here is their comparison, as well as their individual TTK and maximum damage range values:

Meta-analysis

XMG tested in Black Ops 6.

XMG is currently the best LMG in Black Ops 6, and it’s not particularly close. This versatile machine gun offers a very competitive kill time while having the best damage range and lowest recoil of all available options. This makes it by far the most versatile option in this category of the three available at launch.

Honestly, the PU21 is also a good competitor. While not as complete as the XMG, its TTK of just 240ms is astonishingly fast by BO6 standards. As long as you fire the first shot, most other weapons won’t take you one-on-one. However, the greater recoil can sometimes make it difficult to aim these shots, especially if you want to compete at long range.

Finally, the GPMG-7 in its current state is not a good weapon. Not only does it have by far the worst recoil of the three LMGs, but it also has the slowest kill time and the smallest magazine capacity. The only thing that sets it apart is that it can fire at 909 RPM, but that alone isn’t close enough to justify using it over its two better competitors.
