A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting at a grocery store in southwest Birmingham

An investigation is underway after a teenager was seriously injured in a shooting in Birmingham on Wednesday evening.

West Precinct officers were notified around 10 p.m. that a 16-year-old boy showed up at Princeton Baptist Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said a preliminary investigation indicates the teenager was shot at the Citgo at 2714 Pearson Avenue. Details about the shooting have not yet been released.

The store customer then took the teenager to the hospital. The victim has life-threatening injuries.

Fitzgerald said no arrests have been made.
