Freeport man charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a home

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – A 50-year-old man is facing multiple burglary charges after breaking into a home, according to police.

Anthony Sutton, of Freeport, is charged with home invasion, possession of burglary tools and home invasion.

Just before 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, Freeport police responded to a report of a man at a residence in the 800 block of S. Float Avenue.

When police arrived, they said they saw a broken window on the first floor and a man walking on it. Officers entered the home and found Sutton wearing latex gloves, which they said he was wearing during the alleged burglary.

The homeowner was unharmed.

Sutton is currently in the Stephenson County Jail.
