Niagara Wheatfield football player remains in hospital after being hit hard

SANBORN, N.Y. (WKBW) – A high school football player remains in the hospital after being injured during last week’s game against Williamsville North High School.

Logan Senik, 17, plays for Niagara Wheatfield. His mother, Danielle, told me that on Friday, Logan was hit hard during a tackle, causing him to suffer internal bleeding and other injuries.

Danielle said she knew immediately her son was hurt.

“It was terrible,” she told me. “You could tell it wasn’t good, so I ran straight onto the pitch. He was screaming and I was like, ‘It’s not okay, it’s not okay and everyone wants to relax, mom, relax.’

Danielle said her son was in so much pain that he couldn’t speak, and after visiting one of the hospitals, he eventually ended up at ECMC.

“They acted like we were calling an ambulance…his kidneys are bleeding…there’s a pretty significant laceration and there’s a risk of losing a kidney,” Danielle said.

It all happened the day after Logan’s 17th birthday.

“I think he’s 17 and can’t lose a kidney,” Danielle said.

The mother of four still works, but said she prefers to be with her son in the hospital.

Danielle said they are grateful for all the support and wants people to keep Logan in their prayers.

“He has a long way to go. Really. He’s such a strong kid. It’s headed in the right direction,” Danielle told me.
