CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (WVIR/Gray News) – A 4-month-old baby in Virginia has died a week after being hit by a car, authorities say.

In a news release from the Albemarle County Police Department, officials said police responded to a report of a car that had hit a pedestrian in Charlottesville around 7 p.m. on October 24.

According to the release, the crash occurred on Stony Point Road in the area of ​​Riverside Shops Way.

Officers said a southbound driver hit a 4-month-old baby along with a 1-year-old, 3-year-old and a 38-year-old woman who were crossing the street.

The children were transported to UVA Medical Center in life-threatening condition. The woman was taken to hospital in serious condition.

According to the police, the driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene.

According to the release, the 4-month-old boy died on Wednesday as a result of his injuries. The services did not identify any of the victims or the driver.

Albemarle County police asked witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
