Juvenile found dead at Red Wing Correctional Facility

The juvenile died while at the Red Wing Correctional Center in southeastern Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Corrections officials said workers found an unresponsive inmate on Saturday. Authorities attempted to save lives, but to no avail. An ambulance pronounced the resident dead at the scene, spokeswoman Shannon Loehrke said.

An investigation is underway to determine how the prisoner died, she added.

No information was provided about the identity of the deceased.

The Red Wing facility has a capacity of 88 inmates.
