Madison Community Schools Closed Due to Emergency, Schools Will Close Early

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Madison Community Schools were placed on lockdown Friday morning after receiving a threat, according to a statement from the school district.

District officials said on social media that all students were safe.

“This morning, local schools in Madison received a threat and the school district immediately implemented a school lockdown procedure,” the district wrote.

The district did not provide any details about the threat or its impact; The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said it was on scene for an “active investigation.”

District officials said classes at the elementary school were canceled and buses were taking students home. The post states that parents enrolled in primary school will have to take their children home.

According to the district, middle and high schools will have buses taking students home at 10 a.m., and students teaching classes will also be dismissed.

This is a developing story. WCPO is working to learn more about the threat and what happened.
