Suspect Arrested After Pulling Woman’s Hair During Sexual Assault In North York: Police – CP24

Police say a suspect is currently in custody after a sexual assault in North York last weekend in which a woman was grabbed and dragged between two homes.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday around 10:35 p.m. in the area of ​​Ranee Avenue and Allen Road.

Police said the victim was walking on Ranee Avenue when the suspect approached and asked for directions.

Police say that in order to avoid contact with the suspect, the victim crossed the street. Police say the suspect also crossed the street and continued to pursue the victim.

Police said that when the victim tried to escape, the suspect grabbed her by the hair and arms and pulled her between two houses.

According to investigators, a witness intervened and the suspect escaped.

In a press release issued on Friday, police confirmed that a 26-year-old man had been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s incident.

Police identified him as Derek Baptiste of Toronto. He faces one count of sexual assault and one count of failure to comply with probation.
