Woman dies in hospital after being run over in SE Portland; driver located

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A woman who was hit after falling from a moving car Thursday morning has died at the hospital, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Just before 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of an injured woman in the 9900 block of Southeast Stark Street. Officers arrived at the scene and found an injured woman in the street.

Police say a preliminary investigation suggests the woman was holding on to the outside of a moving car, fell and was hit by the same car.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. According to police, the woman’s name will be released later.

Police say the driver of the car involved in the crash contacted investigators on Thursday and was interviewed by the Traffic Investigation Division. The police did not establish the identity of the driver.

A car was also found and seized as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing and the police are not providing any details.
