OneWheel cyclist deceased following fatal crash identified

COLORADO SPRINGS — On Oct. 10, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and identified the deceased as 52-year-old Benjamin Fox.

This is the 42nd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year.

This time last year, 39 people died in Colorado Springs.

In the last 365 days, 52 people have died in Colorado Springs.

Background:

As we previously reportedOn October 6, at approximately 1:49 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the intersection of North Tejon Street and East Platte Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident between a motorcycle and a OneWheel electric vehicle.

Upon arrival, the officer and members of the CSFD and AMR provided emergency assistance to the OneWheel operator.

The OneWheel operator was later transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A few days later, the rider died from his injuries.
