The video shows the fight at a Burnaby golf course

A video has emerged on social media of a fight at a Burnaby golf course earlier this month in which a man apparently hit another golfer with his club.

The video begins with a man shouting, “Were you fighting towards me?” to which the other replies “we made a mistake and” when he is interrupted by a swinging golf club.

The moment of impact is not visible, but the sound of impact is heard, after which the victim is seen kneeling with his head on the ground.

A group of golfers can then be heard shouting at the perpetrator, asking “what the hell is wrong with you” and telling him to back off and put his club down. Another says, “call the RCMP now.”

Local police confirmed to CTV News on Friday that they responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on October 12 at a golf course in North Burnaby.

“When police arrived, the intoxicated 43-year-old suspect was still on scene and was immediately taken into custody without incident,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj wrote in an email.

Police say the suspect struck the three men with a golf club after a “brief verbal argument” and all the victims suffered minor injuries.

The RCMP said he was released on a scheduled date and faces a potential charge of assault with a weapon.

“This is the second time since June that Burnaby officers have had to deal with a fight on the golf course,” Kalanj said. “It is unacceptable to engage in such a physical altercation at a recreational facility. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.”

In the June incident there was a fight– involving kicking and punching – between several golfers after one group reportedly hit too close to the other.
