LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A woman died before she could be taken to the hospital after she was hit by a car on East Broadway where Highlands, Phoenix Hill and Paristown meet.

Louisville Metro Police were called just before 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, for a report of a pedestrian accident at the intersection of East Broadway and Barret Avenue. Louisville firefighters and EMS were also called there.

A car traveling east on East Broadway collided with a woman, now identified as Jessica Madore, 44, of Louisville, who was attempting to cross the road. Louisville Metro Police said Madore failed to use a crosswalk at the intersection.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Moira McAniff Boucher says Madore died of blunt force trauma.

Only the driver was in the car, he remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

East Broadway between Barret Avenue and Baxter Avenue was blocked for part of the morning commute while the LMPD traffic unit investigated the crash.
