A man pleads guilty to manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of a Metro Vancouver school

SURREY, BC – A man accused of fatally stabbing an 18-year-old two years ago in the parking lot of a Metro Vancouver high school has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

SURREY, British Columbia – A man accused of fatally stabbing an 18-year-old two years ago in the parking lot of a Metro Vancouver high school has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Homicide investigators say the man, who cannot be identified because he was 17 at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty Wednesday in provincial court in Surrey, British Columbia.

The stabbing occurred on November 22, 2022, at Tamanawis Secondary School in Surrey, where police found 18-year-old Mehakpreet Sethi dead from his injuries.

The case was investigated by homicide investigators, and the police identified and arrested the suspect.

In November 2023, the man was charged with second-degree murder.

Police say a sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 9, 2025.
