Woman dead, four children injured in Phoenix crash

PHOENIX (AZ family) — A woman is dead and four children are in the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash at a major intersection in downtown Phoenix Friday afternoon.

The collision occurred just before 1:30 p.m 19th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. Phoenix police say the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the child was also seriously injured.

The woman died a short time later.

According to the police, three other children were hospitalized as a preventive measure.

The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
