The incident took place just three days after the second-year Master’s student from the Indian Institute Technology (IIT) Delhi reportedly died by suicide late on Tuesday evening. Police indicated that the student hailing from Jharkhand had visited the IIT hospital earlier in the day and was undergoing psychiatric treatment.

A senior police officer confirmed that a report regarding the incident was received at 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
