Elderly couple identified as victims of fire in Weare, New Jersey

Authorities said Friday that the two people killed in a house fire in Weare, N.H., on Wednesday morning were Paul L. Naves, 80, and Catherine A. Naves, 77.

An autopsy performed Thursday determined that Paul died of natural causes and Catherine’s death was accidental, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s office said in a statement. The fire marshal, along with Weare Police and Fire Department, is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters responding to 83A High Rock Road at 10:44 a.m. for a report of a structure fire saw smoke coming from a second-story window in the Globe building. reported. Crews entered the home and located Naves, who was pronounced dead.
