Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) tomorrow, November 24. Candidates should read the information below to ensure they are well prepared for the exam.

The CAT 2024 exam will be held in three shifts: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the first shift, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the second shift and 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the third shift.

Exam pattern

The CAT 2024 exam pattern is designed to test your ability to accurately solve English comprehension, math and reasoning problems in a limited time. The exam consists of three parts: speaking and reading comprehension (VARC), data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR) and quantitative skills (QA). The total duration of the exam is 2 hours, of which 40 minutes for each part. The exam consists of a total of 66 questions, of which 24 questions are in the VARC format, 20 in DILR and 22 in QA. The marking system awards 3 points for each correct answer, deducts 1 point for each incorrect answer (multi-point questions only), and does not award any points for questions that are not answered.

Forbidden items

– Electronic devices: Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited.

– Watches: Analog and digital watches are not allowed.

– Jewelry: With the exception of wedding rings and simple earrings, no other jewelry is allowed.

– Bags and wallets: Candidates are not allowed to carry bags, wallets or any other personal items.

– Stationery: Candidates are not allowed to carry any stationery including pens, pencils, erasers or paper.

– Food and drink: No food or drink is allowed in the examination room, except for water in a transparent bottle.

CAT 2024: dress code

– Wear light and comfortable clothing, avoiding items that are too baggy or baggy.

– Avoid wearing shoes with thick soles or metal decorations.

– Remove metal jewelry, watches and other accessories before entering the exam room.

– Wear simple, open-toed footwear such as slippers or sandals to facilitate security screening.

– Avoid wearing anything with metal parts such as zippers, buckles or brooches.
