Storm Bert updates: ‘Multi-hazard weather event’ hits UK and Ireland – man dies after tree falls on car

Some parts of the country have already experienced snow, wind and rain today as Storm Bert continues to cause disruption.

An amber warning for snow and ice and several yellow warnings remain in effect, with some expected to remain in effect throughout the weekend.

Here are the affected areas:

Scotland – An amber warning for snow and ice has been issued for Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar and Strathclyde until 5pm.

There is also a yellow warning for wind, rain and snow, which will remain in place for most of the country until tomorrow.

Wales – A yellow weather warning for precipitation remains in place for most of the country until 6 a.m. tomorrow.

A separate wind warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. tomorrow.

West Midlands – A yellow weather warning for rain remains in force for Herefordshire and Shropshire until 11.45pm tomorrow.

The yellow warning for snow and ice also covers Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and will remain in force until 9am tomorrow.

London and the South East – A yellow rain warning covers Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and West Berkshire in force until 11.45pm tomorrow.

A yellow wind warning has been issued for Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Portsmouth, Southampton, Surrey and West Sussex until 9pm tomorrow.

Southwest – A yellow warning for rain is in place for Bath and North East Somerset, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, North, Somerset, Plymouth, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay and Wiltshire until 11.45pm tomorrow .

There is also a yellow wind warning in place for several areas until 9pm tomorrow.

East Midlands – A yellow warning for rain and snow has been issued for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire until 9am tomorrow.

Northeast – A yellow warning for rain and snow covers Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees and Sunderland until 9am tomorrow.

Northwest – A yellow warning for rain and snow covers Blackburn, Darwen, Cheshire East, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Lancashire until 9am tomorrow.
