LENOIR, N.C. – A man was arrested in Caldwell County Thursday evening after he was allegedly found with more than 30 grams of methamphetamine.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., officers stopped a Cadillac vehicle for a routine equipment violation near Smoky Creek Road and Union Grove Road in Lenoir.

When the Cadillac stopped, the driver, 47-year-old William Buff Jr., allegedly fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Deputies said K9 Angie was dispatched to track Buff and found a plastic bag containing approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine.

Buff was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine. He was booked into the Caldwell County Detention Center with a $50,000 secured bond.

“I am grateful for my deputies’ watchful eyes and commitment to keeping drugs off the streets of Caldwell County,” said Sheriff Kevin Bean.
