Police say a “suspicious” man approached two Oakland County middle school students at a bus stop

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Michigan. – Bloomfield Township police are investigating after a “suspicious person” approached two students who were sent to the school bus stop.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Monday, November 25, a man in a pickup truck allegedly approached two South Hills Middle School students after they were dropped off at a bus stop near Spruce Drive and Cathedral Drive.

The man allegedly asked the students if they wanted a ride. According to police, the students did not react and went home.

The man was described as being between 35 and 45 years old, with a black or brown mustache, and was last seen wearing a white collared shirt and a beret. According to police, his vehicle is a “light-colored extended cab pickup truck with silver wheels and rust on the wishbones.”

Bloomfield Township police are working with the school district to investigate.

“The Bloomfield Township Police Department commends these students for being vigilant about their surroundings and reporting the situation to a trusted adult. We are working closely with the school district regarding this incident and our school resource officers are investigating the matter. The Bloomfield Township Police Department will continue to provide an additional presence in our schools. We remind our community to remain vigilant of their surroundings. Do not engage anyone who approaches you or your children in an inappropriate manner and call 911 immediately. We ask parents to remind their children of stranger danger and to contact a trusted adult if something is not right.”
