Ruben Amorim has stated that the situation at Man Utd is non-negotiable and has repeatedly emphasized this to his players

When Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United he knew what a big job he was taking on, but after the draw at Ipswich the true scale was perhaps revealed to him.

New Man Utd manager he already looked as if he had been hit with reality, knowing how far the team still had to go and how much work lay ahead.

At least he started well, unlike him Eric the Hagat least he acknowledges that the team has problems.

Among the problems, and he knows there are many, he also appears to have identified a key issue and has conducted numerous interviews across various channels to convey this message to his players.

Ruben Amorim identifies a key problem at Man Utd

When there are many things to fix at a club, it is important for a manager to prioritize and address issues that will have a larger, overall impact.

For example, Amorim recently emphasized that buying a new striker is not the solution to the team’s problems scoring goals, which shows that his approach is excellent.

Similarly, he began to create a culture at United that looked somewhat disintegrated after Ten Hag’s departure.

For this Amorim’s actions after the match against Ipswich were a clue, which further showed that he not only received the memo, but also understood it perfectly.

On the pitch, he used interviews to convey a specific message to his players. Below are two excerpts from two different interviews he gave in the run-up to the Bodo match:

Amorim at the press conference: “I expect a difficult match. They run a lot and we need to improve that. They keep winning, so I expect a very, very intense and good match.

Amorim in an interview with internal media: “They run a lot and I want my team to experience that, to have those types of matches.”

The four-word phrase “they run a lot” comes up every time, and this is where he wants his team to improve the most.

Amorim focused on fixing Man Utd’s fundamentals

If we take care of the basics, most other things will fix themselves, and the most basic thing in football is to outwork your opponent.

Amorim used training exercises to improve United’s defensive efforts, which often left them vulnerable in transition situations.

Against Ipswich they dominated possession at 60%, but even taking this into account, only Fulham and Chelsea have been overtaken by United in the same match this season.

The opposition consistently works harder than the opposition, and Amorim clearly identified this as a key issue at the heart of many problems.

Talent can only take a team so far if they don’t make the effort to match it, and the latter has been missing far too often this season. Amorim is determined to fix this. The Man Utd squad he may soon receive a wake-up call about what it takes to succeed at the very top.

It’s been a long time coming.
