Mpraeso court granted bail to 27 people involved in the Abetifi chieftaincy dispute

  • 27 people who tried to rob Abetifihene Nana Akyemfuor Asiedu Agyeman III released on bail

The Mpraeso District Court has granted bail to 27 people involved in the Abetifi chieftaincy dispute.

The court, presided over by Her Majesty Adwoa Akyamaah Ofosu, granted bail in the amount of GH¢200,000 with two sureties and one reason.

This comes after their lawyers urged the court to reconsider their application and grant them bail after the group was denied bail two weeks ago.

After the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer, Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh, praised the court’s decision, saying that the presiding judge had delivered the ruling fairly and applied the law as it should have been.

He said he looked forward to an amicable resolution of the chiefdom issue in court.

The 27 people are expected to appear in court again on December 19.

Abetifihemaa condemns fake Yaa Asantewaa

“Legal” Queen Mother Abetifi w Eastern RegionNana Amma Amanua II, ma condemned the video a woman who claims to be the queen mother of the area.

In a widely circulated video, a woman posing as the queen mother interrogated Abetifihene as she sat on the floor as part of the deflation process.

The video caused outrage and bloody clash in Abetifi as community members tried to thwart an alleged coup attempt. Nana Amma Amanua II, referring to the video and the claims, said a woman who identified herself as Yaa Asantewaahas no connection with traditional stool from Abetifi.

Confirming her position as Abetifihemaa, Nana Amma Amanua II noted that Yaa Asantewaa is known to pose as the queen mother when she is out of town, further undermining her claim to the throne.

Concerning the desolation of AbetfiheneNana Amma Amanua II stated that rituals were performed to restore Abetifihene as the rightful chief of Abetifi.

Kwahumanhene devastated

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh announced that Abetifihene Nana Akyemfuor Asiedu Agyeman III has been appointed as acting chairman of the Kwahu Traditional Council after the Kwahumanhene conference was recently devastated.

According to information circulating, Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II was deposed for his alleged involvement in the financial scandal at the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), where he served as chairman of the board.
