The man who allegedly slashed actor Ryan Lian is released on bail and retained a lawyer

SINGAPORE: A 21-year-old man accused of slashing actor Ryan Lian was granted A$15,000 bail on Friday (November 29).

Aaron Samuel Yukon also returned to court with his newly hired lawyer, Mr. Haneef Abdul Malik of Trident Law Corporation.

Yukon he allegedly cut Lian with a knife repeatedly at the NEX shopping mall in Serangoon on the evening of November 22.

He faces charges of intentionally causing injury by using a cutting tool. The penalty for this offense is up to seven years imprisonment, a fine, caning or any combination of these penalties.

Yukon was remanded in custody and appeared in court via video link, wearing a white polo shirt.

The prosecutor told the court he was no longer obliged to remain in custody, but the police needed time to complete their investigation.

As the prosecutor added, investigators are also waiting for the victim’s medical opinion.

Bail was offered and one of the conditions was that Yukon’s parents be sureties for the bail bond.

District Judge Brenda Tan asked whether Yukon’s parents had to be his guarantors since he was 21 years old.

The prosecutor replied in the affirmative, adding that the police were monitoring the case in connection with the alleged crime.

Mr. Haneef informed the court that Yukon’s mother would be his surety.

He said Yukon would live with his mother in her condominium, not the land property listed as his residence.

This was because the condominium had security measures in place to keep Yukon “well and safe” on the property so that “friends and other considerations would not influence him,” Haneef said.

The Yukon case will return to court on January 3, 2025.

Lian, listed in court documents as Lian Yong Yi, is famous for his roles in the films Ah Boys To Men 4 and Money No Enough 3.

Earlier this week, he took to Instagram to address online commenters who made fun of him following the incident.
