Cow shelter caretaker shot dead by land grabbers in UP

Aligarh:On Friday, police said a cow shed caretaker was shot dead by two masked assailants as he returned home from the market. The incident took place near Amarpur Nahra village in Lodha district, he added.

The 40-year-old victim, Dinesh, had in August complained to the authorities that he had received threats from four people after he thwarted their attempts to allegedly take over a panchayat plot adjacent to the shelter.

Police said that of the four, three were identified as Udaiveer Singh, Nepal Singh and Pinka, adding that efforts were on to identify the fourth accused.

Circle officer DN Mishra said the victim’s brother had lodged a police complaint accusing four men of murdering Dinesh.

Dinesh, who lived in the ‘gaushala’ complex, was returning from a market in Lodha district when the incident took place. Police said he was shot twice, once in the head and once at close range
