A father is killed while hunting with his son on Thanksgiving Day

TOWNVILLE, South Carolina (WHNS/Gray News) – A South Carolina father was killed while hunting with his son on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, Michael Rogers, 43, fell about 15 feet from a tree stand around 4:30 p.m.

Authorities said his 11-year-old son started resuscitating his dad before paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.

Rogers died at the hospital just before 7 p.m

The investigation indicates that Rogers had recently been ill and may have fallen as a result of the highlighted medical condition.

According to the coroner, Rogers suffered a neck injury during the fall and died.
