A single-vehicle crash in Delaware County leaves one person dead and another injured

One person is dead after a crash near Leach in Delaware County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) said a 2002 Chevy Tahoe driven by 20-year-old Thomas Charles Potts was traveling on Scenic Highway 412 south of E 550 Road around 2:16 a.m. Friday.

OHP determined that the vehicle left the roadway to the right, turned too far left, crossed the center line, then continued left, left the roadway and struck a ditch.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Potts was ejected from the car and the passenger, 19-year-old Jacob Aaron Cole, was partially ejected.

They were both taken to the hospital, where Potts was pronounced dead.

Cole is stable with internal injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

OHP noticed that none of them were wearing seat belts.
