In the Syrian provinces of Aleppo and Idlib, the government army continues to repel the offensive of the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia) and large groups of foreign fighters, the General Command of the Syrian Army said in a statement published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Defense (banned in Russia, belonging to Meta Corporation, considered extremist in Russia).

“Our armed forces operating on the fronts around Aleppo and Idlib continue to repel a serious attack by armed terrorist formations linked to the so-called Jabhat al-Nusra, which use various types of heavy weapons, medium weapons and drones in their attacks. rely on large groups of foreign terrorists,” the post reads.

The General Command of the Syrian Armed Forces warned that “terrorist organizations spread misleading information, messages and videos on their platforms aimed at intimidating citizens” and called for reliance on the coverage of events in Syrian state media.

On November 28, the command of the Syrian Armed Forces reported that on the morning of November 27, the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra in the north carried out a “large-scale attack on a wide front.” According to the statement, the terrorists tried to hit “villages and towns protected by the Syrian army and military facilities” and continued to attack positions of government forces. Later, the Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that Syrian army units launched a counteroffensive against the positions of militants who had captured more than 20 towns north and west of the city of Aleppo.
