A man was hit twice at the I-43 crossing

DENMARK, Wis. (WBAY) – A man is dead after being struck while trying to cross Interstate 43 in Brown County.

Brown County deputies were called to southbound I-43 near Denmark Highway 96 just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Authorities say the 27-year-old was trying to cross the interstate when he was hit by a minivan driven by a 37-year-old Port Washington woman and then by a car driven by a 50-year-old Illinois man.

The victim died on the spot. His identity has not been publicly released, which is routine to allow time to notify family members.

Deputies say both drivers are cooperating with the investigation.
