Tren de Aragua gangster arrested in New York on drug bust, ordered deported after illegally entering US

Tren de Aragua thug arrested in big drug and gun scandal in New York in February, an immigration judge ordered his deportation – months before his alleged involvement in the attack armed Aurora stormed an apartment in ColoradoThe Post has learned.

Edison Pena Angulo, 25, one of 15 suspected Venezuelan migrant gang members detained Wednesday, crossed the U.S. border illegally in 2023 but was released due to overcrowded ICE facilities, sources revealed.

After his release, Angulo apparently came into contact with 23-year-old Denyer Aramillo Meneses, who also came to the United States illegally and was released due to overcrowding. Sources say Meneses is now also a suspect in the Aurora break-in caught on video.

The Venezuelan couple’s path led them from Colorado – where they are wanted on warrants along with four other men involved in the armed takeover – to the Bronx, where they were detained early Wednesday morning by New York Police Department officers and agents from the US Department of Homeland Security.

Sources say the reason why Angulo was not deported – despite the judge’s February order – remains unclear, as does whether he actually appeared in immigration court.

Tren de Aragua’s arrest followed a six-month investigation into the violent gang’s crimes, including a drug ring operating from the Bronx to lower Manhattan, sources said.

So far, sources have only confirmed to The Post that Angulo and Meneses are also connected to Aurora’s apartment, buhaha. Members of the brutal TdA prison gang took it over apartment buildings in the city, turning it into a brutal, crime-infested headquarters.

Sources say both men were arrested while in Colorado for unrelated crimes. According to sources, Angulo was picked up by Westminster police in March for shoplifting, and Meneses was charged with burglary in August.

Since their arrest in the Bronx, sources have confirmed the identities of four other detained Tren de Aragua members. At least two of them allegedly came into conflict with local law enforcement during their short stay in the US.

NYPD officers arrested Jhonkennedy Bravo-Castro, 27, on suspicion of theft and resisting arrest on Nov. 16 before he was released pending arraignment, sources said.

According to sources, he was detained by the Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas, in February this year and was subjected to accelerated removal from the US.

In April, an immigration judge in Aurora, Colorado, ordered Bravo-Castro deported, but he remained in the U.S. for unclear reasons, sources said.

Sources say that in September 2023, NYPD cops also arrested Carlos Chivico Medina, 24, on charges of theft and unlawful possession of stolen property.

The Post’s sources say Carlos Medina Rodriguez, 26, and Angel Jose Hernandez Hernandez, 21, were also ensnared in the Bronx bust.

The group was allegedly trading various medications — including heroin, fake pot and the synthetic drug Tussi — and dealt with credit card fraud and violence, sources told The Post.

Sources say cops also found an arsenal of semi-automatic weapons during the raid, including three assault rifles.

The federal indictment against the Tren de Aragua suspects remained sealed until Friday.

Sources say both Angulo and Meneses are in custody at the Orange County Correctional Facility.
