A man accused of an accident blocks the road for seven hours

A man has been charged following an accident that closed a road in Moray overnight.

Emergency services were called to the A96 between Alves and the Glenburgie Distillery junction at around 2am on Saturday following the accident.

The road was closed after a power cable was damaged and an additional vehicle was hit.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the case.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 2.15am on Saturday, November 30, police received reports of an accident on the A96 between Alves and the Glenburgie Distillery junction.

“The road was closed because a power cable was damaged in the accident.

“This damaged cable struck an additional vehicle, although that vehicle was not involved in the initial collision.

“No one was injured in the incident.

“One man, aged 34, was arrested and charged in relation to road traffic offences.

“It is the subject of a report to the Tax Prosecutor. “
