Pedestrian killed in motorcycle crash: Phoenix police

Phoenix police say a man is dead following a pedestrian accident that occurred Friday evening.

In a statement, the police say that the accident occurred near ul 50th Street and McDowell. Officers were called to the scene just after 6 p.m., and when they arrived, they found a seriously injured man.

“The man, later identified as 36-year-old Edroy McCormick, was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” a Phoenix police statement said.

According to investigators, McCormick “was crossing McDowell Road outside the designated crosswalks when he was struck by a westbound motorcycle.”

“The driver of the motorcycle initially left the area and returned while detectives were investigating,” investigators wrote. “During the investigation, detectives determined that personal injury was not a factor for the motorcycle driver. No arrests have been made at this time.”
