An Amtrak train encountered an intruder on the tracks in Virginia and service has resumed

Amtrak officials said an Amtrak train traveling from New Orleans to New York collided with an intruder on the tracks in North Springfield on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when the man came into contact with Amtrak Train 20.

No injuries were reported among the 200 passengers and crew on board, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods.

“Amtrak Police are working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident,” Woods said in a statement.

After a short delay, the train resumed its journey to New York.

Authorities have not yet released details about the health conditions of those involved in the collision.
