Each card remaining throughout the year

Each card remaining throughout the year

We’re in the fourth quarter of 2024 and there are only six UFC events left until the end of the year.

Here’s an overview of them, including viewing information and reasons to watch each event.

November 2 – UFC Fight Night in Edmonton

  • Main Event – Brandon Moreno #2 vs. Amir Albazi #3 – Men’s Flyweight
  • Co-Main Event – No. 3 Erin Blanchfield vs. No. 5 Rose Namajunas – Women’s Strawweight
  • Time: 8:00 PM EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

As UFC Fight Night events go, this one is top of the line – at least in terms of recognition. The card features two former champions and one, Namajunas, is a future UFC Hall of Famer. Moreno, the other former champion, may be the only person standing between Albazi and a 125-pound title shot.

A total of nine ranked opponents are scheduled for Edmonton. If you’re an MMA fan, watching this seems like a no-brainer.

November 9 – UFC Vegas 100

  • Main Event – #15 Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates
  • Co-Main Event – Cody Garbrandt vs. Miles John
  • Time: 4:00 PM EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

UFC Vegas cards are typically found on the bottom tier of cards featuring signed fighters with recognizable names. As this is the 100th UFC Apex event, the importance of this event may be a bit greater.

Magny is holding tight to his welterweight rankings, and Prates looks like a guy with scissors. However, we have seen Magny in similar situations before, such as when he upset the highly touted Mike Malott in January and saw the Haitian Sensation emerge victorious. Prates, who comes from the Fighting Nerds camp, looks like a different beast, so we’ll see.

Former bantamweight champion Garbrandt will fight Johns in the co-main fight, with four ranked fighters appearing on the card. From a debut standpoint, former ONE Championship fighter Reinier de Ridder takes his first step into the Octagon against Contender Series Season 8 standouts Gerald Meerschaert and Dana White, Mansur Abdul Malik and Cortavious Romious, who make their debuts on the main roster.

November 16 – UFC 309

  • Main Event – (c) Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic – UFC Heavyweight Championship
  • Co-Main Event – Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler
  • Time: 10:00 PM EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

The greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all time is back in action and that might be reason enough for anyone who enjoys MMA. Depending on how you look at it, Jones was either the recipient or victim of White’s multi-layered campaign to defame Francis Ngannou, as the UFC boss has praised Bones with renewed vigor since the Predator left his organization for the Professional Fighters League.

Either way, Jones is still the best in the sport. Miocic is the most successful heavyweight fighter in history, so this fight is natural. If things fall apart, interim champion Tom Aspinall will step in to replace Jones or Miocic.

In the co-main fight, we will have a rematch that no one wanted. Oliveira fought Chandler in the first round of their first fight, but eliminated him in the second thanks to his excellent boxing. Since then, Chandler has gone 1-2, with his only victory coming over Tony Ferguson, who has lost seven straight fights.

Chandler may have something in store for Oliveira, but the former will likely be a significant underdog. Even considering Jones’ presence, this card is one of the weakest UFC broadcasts of the year on paper.

November 23 – UFC Fight Night in Macau

  • Main Event – Petr Yan #3 vs. Deiveson Figueiredo #5
  • Co-Main Event – No. 2 Yan Xionan vs. No. 10 Tabatha Ricci
  • Time: 6:00 a.m. EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

I love this card, but I wish I didn’t have to wake up with roosters to see it. In this situation, the entire main card is compelling. Yan vs. fight Figueiredo may be a classic, but he could also be a bantamweight title eliminator. If Ricci wins in the co-main event, she could be next in line for a title shot against Weili Zhang or whoever is the strawweight champion after her next title defense.

Also ahead is the next fight of Wang Cong, the dynamic women’s strawweight KO artist who paints her face like the Joker during the weigh-in.

Light heavyweight contender Zhang Mingyang is also in action, and there is a top-10 205-pound fight between Volkan Oezdemir and Carlos Ulberg. The qualifying rounds will feature competitors from the Road to the UFC: China event.

December 7 – UFC 310

  • Main Event – (c) Belal Muhammad vs. Shavkhat Rahkmonov – UFC Welterweight Championship
  • Co-Main Event – (c) Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura – UFC Men’s Flyweight Championship
  • Time: 10:00 PM EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

Whenever two world titles are at stake, the pay-per-view ceiling is higher. While Muhammad may not be the most popular current champion, he has the longest winning streak in the promotion, and Rahkmonow can claim to be the best non-champion currently in the UFC. Watching them clash can be a real pleasure.

In his second championship fight, Pantoja will defend his title against Asakura, and the latter will make his UFC debut. The card will also feature a heavyweight title eliminator bout between Ciril Gane and Alexander Volkov.

We should see Nick Diaz return, but we’ve learned not to hold our breath on the concept. Movsar Evloev and Aljamain Sterling will face off in a key featherweight title fight, and we will also witness the main roster debut of outstanding Brazilian heavyweight Tallison Teixeira. This is a really good result on paper.

December 14 – UFC Fight Night in Tampa

  • Main event – to be determined
  • Co-Main Event – To be determined
  • Time: 7:00 PM EST
  • TV/Stream: ESPN+

What’s in it for you?

We don’t know the main and side events for this card. At this point, all we know is that DWCS season eight standout Navajo Stirling will make his debut on the main roster. I will update this section as more information is revealed.

And yes, the UFC will be on hiatus until February 8, 2025. In the meantime, I suspect I’ll hear some announcements about Zuffa Boxing and the new UFC rankings system.
