Officials say hundreds of ballots were destroyed after a drop box was set on fire

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV/Gray News) – Hundreds of ballots were damaged in a drop box set on fire, according to officials in Portland.

The fire originated at the C-TRAN Park & ​​Ride at Fisher’s Landing Transit Center.

Authorities said someone allegedly taped the device to the outside of the box, which caused the fire. She reported to KTV.

Election officials said hundreds of ballots were burned.

Anyone who placed a ballot in the ballot box after 11 a.m. Saturday should contact the Clark County Elections Office.

This is the second ballot box fire that police have responded to in the Portland metro area.
