Minister advises Unair to lift the suspension of the student government – Archipelago

Igher Minister of Education, Science and Technology Satryo Brodjegoro has asked the University of Airlangga (Unair) in Surabaya, East Java to lift the suspension of one of its student executive bodies (BEM) for criticizing President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuminga Raki.

Satryo said on Monday that he had contacted Unair Chancellor Mohammad Nasih to quickly resolve the situation at the university’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), saying the students’ criticism was within the boundaries of freedom of speech.

“Yesterday evening, I informed the rector of Unair to cancel the suspension of Unair’s BEM FISIP, and he expressed his willingness to do so,” Satryo said in Jakarta, as quoted by compass.id.
