The Scotts Hill Student Anglers are victorious after competing in East Tennessee

SCOTTS HILL, Tenn. — Last Saturday, 2013 Scotts Hill Student Anglers Junior Teams fished the Tennessee Bass Nation State Open on Watts Bar Lake. The two junior teams competing had never seen the lake before last week.

The team of Parker Smith and Carson Randan, along with boat captain Nick Hart, won by over 2 pounds over second place and received the Big Fish Award in the junior category. It was Scotts Hill Juniors’ first victory at a state event. The team of Aiden Phillips and Weston Mullins, along with boat captain Jarrod Phillips, finished 11th after fierce competition.

These two teams still hold the top two spots in the state points race. Smith and Randan’s team now has a win and two second-place finishes in this year’s state tournament. It was their third victory in the tournament this fall.

Over 160 teams from secondary schools and nearly 60 junior teams took part in the event.
