Former factory site in Coventry approved for student accommodation

According to Sama Investments, the building will have four- and six-story sections.

At last year’s meeting, concerns were also expressed about the change in the use of the building, so councilors made sure that students would only be able to live in the apartments during the semester, changing their use during the rest of the year.

Following the decision, Sama Investments CEO and founder Bilal Ahmed said the program would add “real value” to the city and meet the growing demand for student beds.

“Importantly, it will also help to unlock existing family housing in other parts of the city, rather than forcing students to rely on HMOs and the private rented sector,” he said.
