Bihar: Seven-year-old boy kidnapped from school bus in Madhepura; probe turned on

On Tuesday morning, five criminals traveling on bikes kidnapped a businessman’s seven-year-old son from his school bus in Bihar’s Madhepura.

The other children on the school bus allegedly identified one of the criminals, and police launched a massive manhunt to track down the child.

“A bus of a private institute in Alamnagar was going to school with 40 children. When the bus reached near Karma Chowk, five criminals on two bikes forced the driver to stop the bus and forcibly took away the child,” said investigating officers.

The child, a junior high school student, is the son of Rakesh Saha, a local businessman and resident of Fulaut.

“My son, as usual, left for school around 6:30 a.m. and after half an hour I was informed about the incident. We rushed to the spot and other children on the bus claimed to have identified one of the kidnappers as his neighbor Raj Kumar,” Sah said.

“We have no hostility towards the family,” the father said, although he did not rule out the possibility of a ransom call.

Sah lodged an FIR at Puraini police station.

“We are investigating the incident from every possible angle and our main objective is the safe return of the child,” said police inspector Vasudev Roy.
