One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Barry County

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – One person was shot after Barry County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a firearms-related situation at a home Monday evening.

According to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 7000 block of Kingsbury Rd in Delton on Monday around 7:30 p.m. in reference to a domestic situation that escalated into an officer-involved shooting. No other details were given about what happened before the shots were fired. It was also not reported how many deputies were involved in the shooting.

The deputies involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the Michigan State Police investigation, which is standard protocol in an officer-involved shooting.

The identity of the person killed or the deputies involved in the case have not been released.
