A romantic triangle leads to a daylight shooting and the death of a Millville woman

Authorities said a Vineland woman was shot and killed in Millville in a broad daylight attack that possibly involved a romantic triangle.

Bonnie Hitchens, 41, of Bridgeton, was attacked Saturday morning as she sat in her vehicle outside a convenience store and laundromat on East Green Street, according to the Cumberland County Attorney’s Office. A 32-year-old Millville man who was in a vehicle was also injured in the 10:40 a.m. shooting. He is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.

Two Vineland residents, Eric Bundy-Johnson and Francessca Delvalle, both 34, are charged with the murder.

They were in a vehicle that drove alongside the victims, and Delvalle was recorded shouting accusations at Hitchens with the father of Delvalle’s child present, the probable cause statement said.

The masked man then exited Delvalle’s car, approached the driver’s side of the suspects’ vehicle in which Hitchens was sitting, and fired four shots.

The statement said Delvalle also approached the driver’s side of Hitchens’ vehicle and observed the shooting.

Surveillance footage determined the car’s registration, which led investigators to Delvalle on Sunday, October 27.

Delvalle identified Bundy-Johnson, the father of her child, as the shooter. Delvalle also claimed she tried to dissuade him from attacking Hitchens.

Bundy-Johnson, who separately surrendered to police, said he “blacked out and shot (the victims) because he felt like people were constantly trying to finish him off,” the statement said.

Bundy-Johnson and Delvalle, who share the same Axtell Avenue address, were charged with murder and conspiracy.

Bundy-Johnson is also charged with criminal attempt to commit a felony and a weapons offense. Delvalle faces additional charges of obstruction and tampering.

Allegations are just allegations. No one has been convicted in this case.
