Lynn Pierce Ashton

Lynn Pierce Ashton died at her home on October 23, 2024.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter, Taylor Ashton Vossooghi; and brother John Pierce. One of her last wishes was for her obituary to be a true tribute to her life. She wanted her friends to read this and smile, so that’s what we’ll do.

Lynn was born September 29, 1960 in Waynesboro, Virginia, the daughter of Dr. Fredrick Pierce and Mrs. Mary H. Pierce. She grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, but was eager to leave Florida in her 20s because “all the humidity made (her) hair look bad.” Although she didn’t love Florida, she loved her alma mater: the University of Central Florida She was often seen wearing her favorite UCF jersey, which she lovingly wore even when the football team was losing (true fan).

Lynn loved traveling, riding her bike, drinking scotch, reading, and shouting obscenities at various computer devices when they didn’t do what she wanted them to do. She was also a master of the one-finger salute, which was often directed at her husband of 35 years, Joe. (He probably deserved it). Lynn was strikingly brilliant. There was absolutely no problem she couldn’t find an answer to; unfortunately, this answer usually came to her at 2:00 a.m. because her mind never stopped and she couldn’t sleep.

But most of all, she loved Lynn. She loved her family with a fierceness never seen before in this galaxy. She loved her friends endlessly. Her husband, Joe, and their daughter, Taylor, loved her for over 35 years. She will be greatly missed every moment of every day, in this life and the next.

And because she knows you’re all wondering, she died of pulmonary fibrosis. It was a bad hand at the end, but she wouldn’t change a thing. However, she would absolutely tell you to put the vape down.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Harris/Walz campaign.

Arrangements entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423 877-3524, lanefh.com.
