Mother and 8-year-old son identified as victims of fatal crash near Lake Pleasant

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A Phoenix woman and her baby son are dead road accident on the weekend in the Western Valley.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says they died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening on State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) at milepost 14. That’s almost Quintero Lane and Quintero Golf Club.

DPS identified the female driver as Elizabeth Paola Standefer, 45, and her 8-year-old son, both of Phoenix.

A DPS spokesman said a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling east on SR 74 around 6:15 p.m., when for unknown reasons the SUV left the roadway on the right side. The Tahoe then rolled, ejecting the child.

Standefer and her son were pronounced dead at the scene.
