Two net cases, city man 15 to 20 years | News, sports, work

WARREN – A city man was sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated theft, felonious assault and home invasion.

The charges against Craig S. Ison Jr., 42, of Orchard Court NE, stem from two incidents.

During Tuesday’s hearing before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice, Ison said just two words: “Sorry.”

According to prosecutors and a police report, Ison assaulted and robbed a 72-year-old woman on July 11 at 100 Main Avenue SW in downtown Warren. The victim, an employee of a law firm located in the Huntington Bank building, was attacked just before 11 a.m. as she entered the building.

Prosecutors say Ison pushed the woman through a glass case, cutting her head open, and then punched her repeatedly as she lay on the ground. The woman gave him money to stop the assault. When police arrested Ison, they recovered $24 stained with what appeared to be blood, police said. At the hearing, the victim identified Ison as her attacker and also described in detail the injuries she sustained to her head and back.

The trespassing charge stems from an incident that occurred on April 7 at a Tod Avenue SW home. During that incident, prosecutors said, Ison was found in the living room with one hand down his pants and the other on a 4-year-old girl. According to the prosecutor’s office and the police report, the mother and grandmother forced the child to leave the house.

The two incidents were tried together, leading to Ison’s conviction on all charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Burnett said the case, which took 60 days from indictment to sentencing, should set a standard for speedy prosecution of crimes.

“We must aggressively pursue people like this who commit extreme acts of violence. “Not only to punish these criminals, but also to send a message to others that those who are victimized by the citizens of Trumbull County will face swift and harsh justice,” he added. he said.
